Karen Rogers is the founder of Swervia, the modern brand for RVers, and she publishes Swervia Weekly, the newsletter for RV people who like to know things.

She has been RVing for seven years, always with her husband, two kids and full-time jobs running alongside the trip. Forty-eight states and forty-eight national parks so far, starting with a Colorado summer and working through the Rockies, the Southwest, the Pacific Northwest, and the Northeast. She can back a 33-foot trailer into a site and would still rather be the passenger princess, books every campground, routes every trip, and once dragged a sewer hose down a New Mexico highway, which is its own kind of credential.

The RV was a line on a vision board first. It became real when she put the cost of an RV next to the cost of three months of summer childcare and found out they were roughly the same number. That habit, running the math on the thing everyone says is impractical, is often what she writes about here.

Before Swervia she quit a pharmaceutical sales job at 26, sold everything, and spent a year backpacking around the world alone, then spent her second career act building audiences and consumer brands for a string of startups. Swervia is where all three converge.

On Swervia she covers routes and itineraries she has actually driven, boondocking and public-lands camping, the RV systems that fail and how to keep them from failing, and gear she has run into the ground herself.
